Do you really need to use toner?

In the morning, it can be tempting to skip a few of steps in your facial routine. You’ve slept in, your trying to organise the kids, you’re rushing around trying to not be late for work, and it’s more likely that you’ll sacrifice your cleansing routine than say, breakfast, coffee or your makeup!

A toner is the most obvious step that people neglect and it’s common for people to question whether they even need to use a toner. While it might feel like a pointless step in your cleansing routine, you really should make the time and effort to include it – trust us, you and your skin will thank us!

So what does a toner actually do?

Toners act as a secondary cleaner; removing any remaining grime or cleanser that is blocking your pores. If you regularly wear makeup, it’s important to use a toner as just using a cleanser doesn’t always thoroughly remove everything.

Cleansers can sometimes leave your skin a little dry and toners will replace any moisture that is lost to ensure your skin stays hydrated.

Toners also help to minimise the appearance of pores. When you cleanse your pores open but by using a toner you can ensure they close again, meaning no dirt and grime can get in and start clogging them. This leaves your face feeling flawless and refreshed.

And if that wasn’t enough, you can even use toners as a light face mist over your makeup to wake up your skin, and revive your makeup.

So when you think to yourself, do I really need to use toner? The answer is a resounding YES!
